Sixth Russkiy Mir Assembly Opens in Moscow

The sixth Russkiy Mir Assembly begins its work in Moscow this Saturday. It will last two days. The forum is held to mark National Unity Day.

The theme of the discussion is "the Russian Language and Russian History”.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will speak at the assembly on the first day, the government press service said.

The forum is expected to attract attention of the Russian society and compatriots abroad to the common history, fundamental spiritual and moral values and promote modern methods and practices to popularize the Russian language and history, the organizers believe.

Assembly participants will have discussions on "Year of Russian History", "the Official Language and the Language Policy of the State" and round table discussions on "Culture and Education in the Russian World", "History in Russkiy Mir Media Space" and other themes.

An exhibition of medals and badges and a book fair with the participation of publishing houses will be part of the forum.

The goals of the Russkiy Mir Foundation assembly are uniting of Russian compatriots abroad, coordination of efforts to support and popularize the Russian language, culture, history and philosophy of the Russian World.
