A Russian Sets the World Season Record for the 800 Meters

Yuriy Borzakovskiy, gold medalist in the Athens Olympics, started off the 2010 season with a brilliant victory in the German city of Karlsruhe, reports ITAR-TASS.

At this first major international competition, this Russian athlete won the 800-meter race – his best event - with the season's best time of 1 minute and 45.94 seconds. In second place came Jakub Halusa from the Czech Republic.

Another Russian runner taking part in the race, a countryman and training partner of Yuriy finished fifth - Dmitriy Bogdanov.
