Russian Culture Festival in Japan Celebrates its 5th Anniversary

08.04.2010

The Russian culture festival Japan enters its fifth rear, the Voice of Russia reports. The event, which opens on April 13, includes performances by ballet and circus troupes, exhibitions of paintings and children's drawings, concerts of famous choral collectives and Russian song ensembles.

The organizers have planned some retrospective film programs as well. One of them is devoted to the 150th anniversary of Chekhov's birth.

Young children will have an opportunity to learn about Russian national crafts, and view the new Japanese version of the Cheburashka cartoon. This character is a favorite both in Russia, and in the Country of the Rising Sun.

In 2009, more than one million people had visited the festival.
