Five Russian Language Centers to Open in Northeastern China

30.04.2009

In early May, Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University will open five Russian language and culture centers in northeastern China. The project will take place through a grant of 800,000 rubles provided by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Contracts on the opening of the centers have been signed with institutes in Harbin, Changchun, Heihe, and Daqing. The centers have already been provided with teaching kits, and plans have been made to create a library of Russian literature and Russian documentary films.

“From May 6-16, a delegation headed by Yury Sergiyenko, rector of the Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University, will visit the provinces,” said Sergei Kukharenko, director of the project. “Despite the fact that the centers are already operational, during these days we will be cutting ribbons and planting trees.”
