International Drama Festival Underway in St. Petersburg

03.04.2009

From April 1-8 in St. Petersburg, the XI International Festival of Russian Theatres in the CIS and Baltic States will take place. Participating in the program will be both well-known theatres and young groups from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia and Tajikistan. St. Petersburg audiences will see classical performances and contemporary repertoires.

An important feature of the festival is the presence of a large number of discussions, workshops and master classes, which will provide opportunities for communication and creative exchange of experience.

For the second time, the Russkiy Mir Foundation is providing financial support for the festival. In his greeting to organizers and participants, Vyacheslav Nikonov, executive director of the foundation, stressed that “through your activities you are actively and productively contributing to the development and popularization of the achievements of the Russian theatrical school, strengthening cultural ties with compatriots abroad, and contributing to the unity of the Russian world on the basis of high humanistic principles.”
