Russia’s Ambassador to Latvia Visits Russian Center in Riga

09.02.2010

February 8, 2010 Russia’s Ambassador to Latvia Alexander Veshnyakov met with students and tutors of the Baltic International Academy. The meeting was conducted in the frame of the Day of Diplomats.

Among the issues raised at the meeting were the problems faced by Latvian non-citizens, visa-free trips of Russian citizens to the EU countries, celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the WW II etc.

After the meeting Alexander Veshnyakov visited the Russian Center located at premises of the Baltic International Academy. The Ambassador asked a number of questions related to the center’s work, events and initiatives; its target audience etc. The center’s head V. Nikiforov briefed the Ambassador on the achieved results (events and initiatives launched by the center), and discussed a number of future projects.

It was a second visit of the Ambassador to the Russian Center in Riga – last year he attended the opening ceremony, which took place on March 14.
