First Russian Center Opens in Tel Aviv

On September З0 the Open University of Tel Aviv hosted the opening of the first Russian Center in Israel.

This initiative is part of a global project run by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The project aims at promotion of the Russian language and culture worldwide. By now 36 centers have already been opened in different countries.

The Open University of Tel Aviv is the second largest higher educational institution in Israel with the number of students exceeding 45,000. The university is known for implementation of the latest computer technologies and distance learning programs.

The Russian Center in Tel Aviv offers free access to fiction and science fiction books, educational materials, books on methods of the Russian language teaching etc. The center will also become a meeting point for all people interested in studying Russian and in enhancing their communication skills. This initiative is expected to maintain and strengthen cooperation between Russia and Israel.
