Today Shevchenko State University (Kiev) hosted the opening of the Russian Center.

In his opening speech Vyacheslav Nikonov said that opening of the Russian Center at the country’s leading higher educational institution serves as evidence of a strengthening humanitarian partnership between our countries. The key goal of the newly open center is to develop into a comprehensive info source about Russia, its culture and literary heritage.

“Our cultures are united by such great names as Taras Shevchenko, Nickolai Gogol, Ilya Repin, Vladimir Korolenko, Lesya Ukrainka etc.,” Vyacheslav Nikonov added. “It is very symbolic that the foremost initiator of printing Ivan Fyodorov established a book printing tradition in Russia and published the first Ukrainian ABC-book”.
