Memorable Dates of the Russian World for People of Kharkov

19.12.2014

The Kharkov production company “Pervaya Stolitsa” and the Russkiy Mir Foundation conducted a series of quizzes in 2014, under the overarching title “Memorable Dates of the Russian World”, devoted to the important events of Russian history and culture.

The TV quiz “Memorable Dates of the Russian World” is an education project held to attract everybody’s attention to the development of general culture, better and more relevant knowledge of Kharkov residents about the important events of Russian history and culture, given that Kharkov is the biggest Russian-speaking city on the Russian border.

As part of the project, twenty-six 10-minute video plots were created. Each quiz consists of two parts: an answer to the previous question presented in full plus a question for the next quiz. Among the subjects of quizzes were the 80th jubilee of Russian actor Vasily Lanovoy, the 130th anniversary of Soviet writer and author of the first anti-utopia Evgeny Zamyatin, the 140th birthday of Soviet innovative stage director Vsevolod Meyerhold, the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the jubilees of many other outstanding figures of Russian culture and science.

The prizes for the winners were disks with TV programs, made by the video channel as part of grant projects implemented by the Russkiy Mir Foundation plus the second electronic edition of Russian-Ukrainian Friendship: Time and Destinies whose publication was also supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Each TV quiz was aired 12 times during 2014 as part of the “Pervaya Stolitsa” TV program on three Kharkov TV channels: Simon, OTB and Fora.

The TV quiz was watched with great interest both by adolescents and adults.
