International Intellectual Game “I Know!” Comes to Belarus

In mid-February the international intellectual game “I Know!” got underway in the Republic of Belarus. L.N. Gurtyev School #70 in Minsk gathered high school students from Pervomaisky district of the Byelorussian capital.

Schoolchildren from Russia, Germany, Bulgaria, Latvia, Sweden, Italy and Ukraine applied for participation in this year’s game traditionally conducted with support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. This year, Byelorussian schoolchildren will for the first time get involved in the game.

In her address deputy minister of education in the Republic of Belarus, Raisa Sidorenko, noted the significance of international educational projects for development of the dialogue between the countries.

Deputy head of the education, sports and tourism administration of Pervomaisky district of Minsk, Lyudmila Borisenko, greeted all participants of the event devoted to the opening of the international intellectual game “I Know!” and pointed out, how symbolic this event is for Pervomaisky district which has become a venue for international projects and further cooperation. 

In her address principal of School #70 Evgeniya Rudova underlined that this is a landmark event in the Year of Youth announced in Belarus, the Year of Literature in the Russian Federation, Year of the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory – when we ponder the most important things: peace, harmony, friendship and unity. And this international event is called to bring together schoolchildren from neighboring nations, given that Slavic peoples have a special destiny and role in history.

The opening ceremony was concluded with a blitz tournament among the participants, held by the Head of All-Ukrainian NGO “Russian School”, Alexander Kondryakov. The winners were awarded medals (first awards of the season) and certainly the major prize of the intellectual game “I Know!” – exciting books.
