Lessons on Space Exploration Held in Spain

20.04.2015

The Association of Immigrants of Eastern European Countries “Alicante Ruso” with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation held a series of lessons dedicated to Cosmonautics Day.

At the first lesson (the lessons were held at the Parus studio school of the association) all of the children were shown a presentation about space exploration and the first Soviet cosmonauts: Gagarin, Titov, Tereshkova and Leonov as well as the achievements of the Russian space program. The youngest participants learned a song about a rocket and for homework were given a poem about Yuri Gagarin to memorize.

At the second lesson the children were quizzed on their knowledge about space exploration: What is a cosmonauts suit called? What kind of food do they eat in space? Etc. Open lessons were held for all who wanted to attend. The children watched animated films on space and then commented on what they learned.

During the third lesson the youngest groups completed a joint project called “The Earth Is Our Home”. For the older groups a drawing contest on this theme was held. The first- and second grade pupils wrote a short composition on space exploration and responded to questions about Yuri Gagarin. Moreover, all of the children recited the verses they had memorized about Yuri Gagarin.
