The Union of Russian Youth of Georgia continues its series of lectures and seminars about the life and works of prominent figures in Russian culture and literature for students of the organization’s Russian language courses. The project is made possible in part by financing from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
The students of the courses include students of various universities, practicing doctors and lawyers, bankers and journalists of leading media as well as government officials and representatives of private business.
In the run-up to the celebrations of Russian Language Day and the anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin, a lecture was held on “Pushkin in Georgia”. The story of the fate and creative works of Pushkin was preceded by a review of the history of the emergence of Russian Language Day, which is celebrated on the poet’s birthday.
At the conclusion of the lecture the youth took part in a lively discussion, asking many questions about Pushkin’s trip to Georgia and how it impacted his poetic works.
In following with a well-established tradition, on June 6 the Union of Russian Youth of Georgia organized a gathering at the Pushkin monument in Tbilisi, where they laid flowers and recited Pushkin’s poems.
