Major Russian Cultural Celebration Held in Bulgaria

16.06.2015

The regional phase of the II National Festival of Russian Poetry, Song and Dance “May There Always Be Sunshine” has successfully concluded. The festival has been organized by the National Russophile Movement of Bulgaria with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

This year the festival was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of victory over fascism. Its participants included approximately 3000 performers from all regions of the country: more than 140 vocal and instrumental groups, 70 dance ensembles and dozens of groups from schools where the Russia language is studied as well as individual performers. This year the public once again warmly welcomed the performers.

The festival would not have been possible without the efforts of the numerous people participating in it and the support of the Ministry of Education, heads of cultural institutions and centers which work with children and dozens of mayors throughout the country.

It should be noted that many of the performers also took active part in the festivities marking Victory Day on May 9.

The second phase of the festival, which will include the winners of the regional round, will be held in June.
