Bulgarian Schoolchildren Talk about Role of Soviet Army in Victory over Fascism

19.06.2015

A multimedia exhibition on the events of World War II was presented at the "Zlatyu Boyadzhiev" Professional High School in the town of Brezovo. A lecture on the role of the Soviet Union in the war was delivered by Vasil Staikov, head of the association Slavyansky Mir [Slavic World]. The event was attended by teachers and pupils of the 10th grade.

On June 12 at the Vocational School of Foodstuff Technologies Atanas Chenchelov in the town of Pechtera a film screening dedicated to World War II was held as a part of a history lesson.

The opening remarks were delivered by Boryana Zafirova, a teacher of the school and member of Slavyansky Mir. Vasil Staikov told the students about the main battles of the war and the role of the Soviet Army as well as about how the events of these years were reflected in works of art, literature and music.

At Bulgarian schools only three hours are dedicated to the study of World War II, so such lessons are useful and generate great interest. The events have been supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
