Professional courses for teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language from Mongolia were held from 4-11 August at the Irkutsk State University. The courses were organised with financial assistance from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
Most of the teachers in attendance came from schools from across the regions of the sparsely populated Mongolian Republic. The main aim of the course was to improve speaking fluency in Russian and to give the teachers the opportunity to study new methodological approaches and developments in the teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language.
The teachers enjoyed an excursion to the Baikal, and were given plenty of opportunity to communicate with Russian native speakers in the kind of immersive environment that helps learners shed their inhibitions and begin speaking more actively. At the end of the course the teachers were given certificates attesting to their professional development.
