30.11.2015

International forum “The Role of Russian Language and Literature in Modern Cultural and Educational Space” has taken place in Minsk with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The forum was aimed at young Belarusian teachers of Russian language and literature wishing to learn about innovations and new ideas in education.

The event was attended by young teachers, officials of the Belarusian Education Ministry and researchers from the National Education Institute. Professor Tatiana Novikova (Belgorod National Research University) represented Russia at the event.

Among the most relevant topics discussed at the forum was effective organization of educational processes through updated education programs for Russian language and literature. Raisa Sidorenko, Deputy Education Minister of Belarus, spoke about the modern approach toward teaching Russian to five-graders and six-graders, as well as its potential and implementation through textbooks.

The subject of developing the methods of teaching Russian language and literature in the context of competency-based approach was fully explored in the following reports: “Communicative Competence in the Modern Philological Paradigm: Structure, Content, Functioning” by Vasily Starichenok (Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University), “Forming Communicative Competence in Students while Teaching Linguistic Disciplines” by Irina Kudrevatykh (Belarusian State Pedagogical University) and “Forming Communicative Competence while Teaching Russian Orthography” by Tatiana Dikun (Belarusian State Pedagogical University).

The report “The Theoretical Foundations of Methodological Support for Teaching Russian in the Modern Information and Education Environment” presented by Larisa Murina, chief research scientist at the National Education Institute, was especially popular with the public.

In his speech dedicated to extracurricular Russian language activities, Vasily Rusetsky, head of the research center under the National Education Institute, paid particular attention to the importance of motivating students to comply with the standard of speech.

The practical part of the forum included a master class entitled “Studying Russian at an Advanced Level” presented by Zhanna Zhadeiko, teacher at Gymnasium No. 14 in Gomel (Belarus).
