Sochi University Hosts All-Russian Week of Russian Language

On 12 December 2015, the All-Russian Week of Russian Language at the Sochi State University concluded in Sochi. The program of the final day included a gala concert and an award ceremony.

Sochi residents and guests, college students and high-schoolers demonstrated excellent speaking and critical thinking skills, extensive philological knowledge and enormous love for the Russian language. The jury had a hard time choosing the best among the best. Over 100 people received certificates and numerous prizes.

The All-Russian Week at the Sochi State University proved to be quite eventful.

The international youth research-and-practice conference “Russian Verbal and Cognitive Culture: Problems of Communication Efficiency” took place on the first day of the week. Students from different Russian universities received certificates for their reports, while a number of foreign students were given certificates “For Contribution to Russian Studies.”

The winners of the Platinum Quill contest were announced, with Sochi tenth-grader Amina Yushkova taking the first prize.

The second day of the All-Russian Week saw a competition for rhetoricians that consisted of a Rhetorical Marathon and a Polemic Ring.

Reciting and songwriting contests took place on the third day of the week, with 90 people taking part in the competition.
    
Russian Language Olympiads were held on the fourth day, with 164 contestants in total. Guests attended the Sochi History Museum and the Nikolai Ostrovsky Literature Museum.

On the fifth day, participants went on a tour of the Olympic sites around Sochi.
