Zatoka hosts international summer Russian language school

The 4th International Summer Russian Language School was supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation was held in Zatoka (Odessa region, Ukraine) from June 15 to June 18, 2016. The International Pedagogical Club and the Russian School non-government organizations were partners of the event. This year, the subject of the classes was “Intersubject communications in contemporary education. Russian philology taught at school as an integral system of school subjects”. Over 100 Russian language and Russian literature teachers, higher educational institution lectures and public members representing Belarus, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine took part in it.

Scientists and teachers speaking at the teachers’ session told the attendees about using media resources at Russian language classes, about the subject called “Russian language arts” illustrating integrative trends of contemporary philology children learn at school, about the practices of teaching school students stylistics as well as about immanent and contextual analyses of literary texts at literature classes. Russian language and literature teachers working at Odessa schools and present at the meeting of the pedagogical club presented the activities creative associations carry out. Current educational issues typical of the Russian language teaching at educational institutions of a new type such as gymnasiums and lyceums and methods of teaching gifted children were discussed as well. During the workshops Russian language and literature teachers shared their experience in such spheres as the development of cognition interest and creativity among school students, creative writing, using model texts as a means for developing of the school students’ reading activity, implementation of the sociocultural approach to teaching literature, introduction of computational linguistics and educational strategies for school students’ socialization and their moral education during Russian language and literature classes including media resources etc. The participants of the summer school also took part in the work of such projects groups as “Ways and means for the development of the most suitable cultural and educational environment during teaching philological subjects to school students” and the auction of pedagogical ideas.

At the end of the summer school activity the participants gave a brief overview of the event and received their certificates as well as sets of methodical literature. Each of them was also given the first issue of a new edition aimed at Russian language and literature teaches named “The Russian language arts at school” established by the International Pedagogical Club and the current issues of the “Russian School” journal.

The cultural program of the event was busy, too. It included a tour of historical and cultural center of Odessa and visits to city museums.
