On 15-23 November 2016, professors at the department of the Russian language and its teaching methods of the philological faculty of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia S.A. Deryabina, S.S. Mikova and I.I. Mitrofanova held a scientific practice seminar for Western African specialists in the Russian language. The event was held with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
On 18 November, the professors of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, delivered their reports on teaching Russian as a foreign language at the travelling international scientific seminar Urgent issues of the Russian language and its teaching methods hosted by the Lycée Demba Diop, Mbour. The matters of teaching Russian in the context of the Senegalese educational system were discussed. The participants of the seminar received certificates.
In addition, a photo exhibition dedicated to Russia, Russian culture and literature was arranged, lectures on issues of teaching Russian as a foreign language were delivered, a Russian language Olympiad I speak Russian in which students of the Tiare lycee took part and a night of Russian cinema were arranged.
