Renaissance Venice exhibition to open in Pushkin Museum
Renaissance Venice. Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese. From Italian and Russian Collections exhibition opens tomorrow, June 9th at The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
23 outstanding works by three greatest renaissance painters traveled from Italy abroad for the very first time. “It is a gesture of incredible friendship that is hard to underestimate,” commented Marina Loshak, the head of the Pushkin Museum. She has specified that Italian museums are very sensitive about sharing their collections.
The exposition presents so-called Golden Renaissance period in Venice, providing a unique opportunity to see a triad - Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese, side by side. Although all the works presented by Italian and Russian institutions are real masterpieces the curators are especially delighted to see the highlights, such as Titian’s Salome from Doria Pamphilj Gallery housed in Rome. Another painting, “Resurrection of Christ” by Paolo Veronese, from Pushkin Museum Collection, will be exhibited for the first time after the restoration.
It is worth mentioning that some tactile paintings’ models will be available for blind and partially sighted visitors. Free tours for deaf and hearing-impaired guests are going to be available as well.
