BRICS Media Forum for Mass Media representatives from BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) started in Beijing, according to TASS. It is conducted for the first time. Around thirty information agencies, TV channels, papers and other mass media sources take part in it.

The Head of Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Qibao welcomed guests and participants of the forum. In his point of view, BRICS countries go through a challenging environment at the international arena. Besides, they have many own internal problems. International community has some misunderstanding concerning further perspectives of these countries’ development. Mass media of different countries should try their best to reverse these tendencies and create a positive image of BRICS countries.

Senior Chinese official person has added that today BRICS countries play an important role and their status is gradually growing. Under such conditions, connections between mass media sources remain a foundation for developing trust and cultural exchange between countries.

“Mass Media sources of BRICS countries should consider assistance to humanitarian contacts as their important mission and actively advance collaboration and exchange programmes in the sphere of culture, education, health services, sports and tourism,” Liu Qibao underlined.
