Twitter bans ads from RT and Sputnik, Russia to reciprocate

Alvesgaspar/wikimedia.orgMoscow will definitely take retaliatory measures following the Twitter’s decision to ban advertising campaigns of RT and IA Sputnik, according to official Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, RIA Novosti informs.

Twitter authorities explained their actions by investigation of Russian Interference with American elections of 2016.

According to the diplomat, this is nothing but yet another act of aggression directed at creation of barriers for Russian mass media sources and is a logical consequence of pressure exerted by US establishment and intelligence services.

«We estimate this action as another act of aggression directed at blocking Russia Today TV channel broadcasts which results from pressure exerted by a part of US establishment and intelligence services. Retaliatory measure will follow for sure, Maria Zakharova claimed.

Representative of Russian Foreign Ministry has remarked that Washington uses its intelligence services to disregard principles of the international law and basics of its own legislation about freedom of speech.

Maria Zakharova has added that involvement of private business into campaigns against Russian mass media proves unequalled attack by American authorities.

Twitter offered RT to place big volumes of advertising on its platform during election campaign of 2016, however the TV channel refused. Sputnik claimed that agency never used commercial promotion by Twitter.
