21st World Russian People’s Council starts in Moscow

The logo of this year’s forum is Russia of 21st Century: Historical Experience and Development Perspectives. The Council is organized in Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Patriarch Kirill is the chairman of the Council. The Council participants will discuss principles of Russia’s civilized development in the 20th century, pay attention to the tragic events of 1917 and other social and geopolitical catastrophes, as well as achievements and victories of the Russian people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his greetings to the organizers and participants of the World Russian People’s Council. The head of Russia has stated that the Council is one of the most influential forums where the most significant humanitarian and civilizational problems are discussed to form public opinion. Vladimir Putin wished the participants successful work, substantial discussions, having reminded that Russia can move on only preserving its historical heritage.

Traditionally, senior religious officials of the Russian Orthodox Church, leaders of political parties, cultural figures, educational sector representatives, as well as Russian compatriots delegated from abroad by their communities are taking part at the Council. The World Russian People’s Council has held an official advisory status of the UN since 2005.
