Russian Foreign Minister reports about attempts of US intelligence to recruit Russian journalists

Russian Ministry of Foreign AffairsUS intelligence services are exerting pressure on Russian journalists and trying to recruit them, according to official spokesperson of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, TASS informs.

Russian mass media representatives have been lately subject to hard pressure by American intelligence, in particular, with purpose to recruit them, she said. Zakharova has mentioned that such attempts are numerous and multi-layered.

In particular, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has stated that after one of Russian journalists refused their offers, American intelligence services were attempting to bribe and intimidate him.

Diplomat is sure that, if directly asked, the US State Department answers that they are not aware of such cases. That is why this topic will be a subject of discussion between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his American counterpart Rex Tillerson. Their meeting is scheduled for tomorrow in the capital of Austria.
