Stirlitz Museum to appear in Vladimir region

Vyacheslav Tikhonov acting Shtirlits in series Seventeen Moments of Spring//filmpro.ruStirlitz museum will appear in Vladimir region, TASS reports. It will be opened in Gorokhovets city. According to the Deputy Governor of the Region Mikhail Kolkov, the main theme of the museum is deeds of Soviet intelligence officers.

Famous Soviet twelve-part television series, directed by Tatyana Lioznova unveils story of Soviet spy operating in Nazi Germany under a nicknamne Stirlitz. The leading part is played by Vyacheslav Tikhonov.

Gorokhovets was chosen as a venue for the museum, because this is the place where the main character of Julian Semenov’s books and legendary series Seventeen Moments of Spring Maxim Maximovich Isaev spent his young years. Besides, the real surname of Stirlitz is Vladimirov.

Kolkov has explained that the city authorities have got in touch with the writer’s daughter who lives in Paris. It was necessary to resolve all copyright issues.

First of all, exposition of future museum is meant for tourists coming to Grokhovets. Opening of the museum will be timed with celebrations dedicated to anniversary of the ancient city. The city will mark its 850th anniversary next year.

Grokhovets was founded by Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky in 1168 on Klyazma River. It became known as a center of merchants flourishing in 17th century. Tourists are attracted by unique patterns of wood carving. Craftsmen dealing with wood carving use patterns of fancy animals.

The city population amounts to thirteen thousand people. Around hundred objects of cultural heritage are located in the city, more than two dozens of them are of federal significance.

Gorokhovets was included into the preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage objects in 2017.
