International Women’s Day is almost obsolete in France, as our countrywomen have stated in their interview to the Russian Witness. The newspaper has conducted a poll through social networks about the way 8 March is celebrated in France.
The majority of respondents has acknowledged that this holiday is almost forgotten in France. This year, like it was in the past, this day is a usual working day in this country. The truth is, many our female compatriots celebrate this holiday in the narrow circle of their friends. Some of them managed to turn the celebration into a good tradition in their mixed families.
Many participants of the poll have noted that today the cause of Klara Zetkin and Rosa Luxemburg is far from being completed and still lives on: the rights of women should be championed and defended. Those lucky women, who receive congratulations at that day, get flowers, sweets or perfume as a present, as a rule.
