Paralympians bestowed with high honours by Putin

Solemn award ceremony honouring of the best Para athletes took place in the Yekaterininsky Hall of the Senate in Moscow, TASS reports.

Vladimir Putin has marked that despite all complications preceding the Winter Olympics, our athletes worthily represented their country. Once again they have demonstrated that Russia is one of the leaders of Paralympic sport.

According to the President, the personal example of our sportsmen will bring the positive impact on society. Putin expressed admiration of their strength of spirit, self-confidence and ability to overcome any difficulties.

Russian President congratulated athletes and handed them well-deserved medals and orders. Ekaterina Rumiantseva, Anna Milenina, Alexey Bugaev, and other Russian Para athletes were awarded.

Let us remember, Russian Paralympians won 24 medals at 2018-Paralympic Games in PyeongChang taking 2nd place in in the overall medal count. Russian athletes were performing under Paralympic Games flag. Unfortunately many of Russian paralympians stayed at home being banned from Winter Olympics.
