Linguistic politics should be well balanced, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko believes. According to him, the fact that the national language is opposed to the Russian language can not be tolerated, TASS reports. He has emphasized that it is impermissible to follow the Kiev’s way.

«Why did they beat the Russians and the Russian language up?” – Lukashenko questioned at the meeting with the creative intellectuals held yesterday’s evening in Minsk.

He has remarked that if the politics is to make everybody speak the state language, this politics should be very carefully followed without offenses of the Russians or of the Russian language.

Alexander Lukashenko has mentioned that the Belorussian language can be taught starting the kindergarten, but it should be done staying calm. He has also reminded that the Belorussian nationalists leaning towards the sovereign status of the Belorussian language and the country’s independence turned Russians, Ukrainians and people of other nationalities against themselves.
Note that earlier the Belorussian leader promised that the Russian language would not change its state status now or in future. He is sure that the Russian language can be considered native for the Belarus nationals. Alexander Lukashenko has cleared out that he puts these two languages on the same level.
President of Belarus has noted that if life changes, new generations would decide for themselves what language to speak. Alexander Lukashenko has reminded that at the end of the last century Belarus made a decision on the bilingual educational curriculum. In his words, this was a completely correct decision.
