On April 9, 2018, Director of the Russian Sunday School Igor Sergienko delivered a lecture on the topic of the Great Space Adventure at the Russian Center of the National Chengchi University (Taiwan). The lecture was meant for students of the Russian studies and was delivered in Russian.
Igor Sergienko talked about main chronological themes of the space era started on October 4, 1957 when the Earth’s first artificial satellite Sputnik-1 was launched. The audience was interested in the story of the dogs flying to open space.
Then the lecturer passed on to discussing the first manned flights to space and talked about Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova. Young people learnt that the job of a cosmonaut requires much courage and bravery letting along many skills and much knowledge.
The story about the first in history human flight to open space left no indifferent listeners. They, in their turn, asked the lecturer many interesting questions. Such lectures enable students studying Russian as a foreign language profess their listening skills and find out more about the country where Russian is native, its history, cultural, special national features and expand the circle of their interests.
