Cosmonautics Day celebrated all over the world

Festive events dedicated to the 57th anniversary of the first manned flight into open space will take place all over the world.

The gala march will start near the monument to Yuri Gagarin in Korolyov city. The ceremony of laying flowers to the grave of the cosmonaut in the necropolis by the Kremlin wall will take place at the Red Square in Moscow. The next stop will be the Museum of Cosmonautics. The march is to finish by visiting the Novodevichye Cemetery (The Cemetery of the Maidens)

According to RIA Novosti, Gorky Park visitors will be able to go on tours and attend lectures about space where they will watch the planets, see the Sun spots, will get to know configuration of a telescope. Besides, children and teens will take part in the historical space quiz with memorable gifts and souvenirs for winners. All the activities will be free of charge.

Postcards will be placed all over the capital city. Congratulatory videos will sound from some façades of the New Arbat Avenue.

Schools all over the world will conduct the Gagarin’s class on the topic - Space is Us. The class will be dedicated to Valentina Tereshkova, the first female cosmonaut and the 20th anniversary of launching the International Space Station to the Earth’s orbit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is to attend the Space Pavilion at VDNHk (The Russian acronym for the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) equipped with the most modern technologies. The head of state will tour the exhibition – almost all the exhibited items are unique and the only ones in the world. One of the most significant exhibited items is the lending section of the Vostok 1 space ship, which brought Gagarin back to the Earth.

April 11 is the Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics. Senior lieutenant Yuri Gagarin made the first space manned flight in the human history onboard of Vostok 1 space ship. His flight lasted for 108 minutes. This event thrilled the world and opened a way into open space for humanity.
