MusicAeterna choir wins Opera Awards

Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre

Names of the Opera Awards laureates have been announced. This award is often called “opera Oscars”. The awards ceremony took part in London on April 10, TASS reports. The Tchaikovsky Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre's choir MusicAeterna won the competition.

It is already fifth nomination of this choir. It's competitors are very well-recognized choirs from Bavarian State Opera, Berlin Komische Oper, Teatro Real from Madrid, San Francisco opera, La Fenice theater from Venice.


The founder of MusicAeterna is one of the most requested conductors in the world Teodor Currentzis. He started to work with this choir 15 years ago in Novosibirsk. In their present form the collective performs last seven years, appearing with Currentzis and its choirmaster Vitaly Polonsky in the most prestigious concert halls around the world.

The choir's repertoire includes pieces from various styles and epochs, it is recognized for its authentic performance style.
