Putin and Assad agreed to combat terrorism together

Meeting of Russian and Syrian leaders took place in Sochi yesterday. They raised several important topics regarding crisis in Syria and search of ways out of the current situation, official website of Kremlin reports.

Putin and Assad discussed operations of the constitutional commission. Bashar  Al Assad  promised to send delegates to discuss amendments to the basic Syrian law, which received support from the Russian President. According to Kremlin position, it would serve establishing peace in Syria.

The heads of two countries marked the military success on the ground, that will serve to bring political solution of the crisis. The President marked that terrorists have left key zones of the country. Noting the progress, Putin said that now foreign troops have to leave Syrian territory.  “With the start of the political process in its most active phase, foreign armed forces have to withdraw from Syrian territory,” Russian President said.

Al Assad said that the situation in the country is gradually stabilizing, which will help the progress in political situation. However, the fight with terrorism can't be stopped.  

The leaders agreed on joint efforts to continue fighting terrorism.

Bashar Al-Assad expressed gratitude to Vladimir Putin and Russian Army, especially the Russian Aerospace Forces. Syrian President was satisfied with negotiations in Sochi since they've provided an excellent opportunity to promote common positions in the future talks that to take place in Sochi and Astana.
