Moscow surpasses London and Paris in number of photos

The Russian capital took the second place in the list of the most photographed cities in the world. The ranking is based on the Dreamstime photostock, Ruskaya Vesna reports. New York tops the list and London is on the third position. Bangkok and Paris accomplish the top five.

Two years ago Moscow took the fourth place in the ranking made by the German Hochrhein-Zeitung publication. Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva (VDNKh) was included into the top ten favorite places for taking pictures and uploading them into popular social networks.

Probably the FIFA World Cup helped Moscow to get into the top three this year. According to the Moscow Department of Sport and Tourism more than three million people visited Moscow during the month of the football tournament. Most tourists came from the US, China, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

The ranking the most photographed cities in the world and geolocation data transmitted by smartphones influence the tourist routes and the increase in tourist flow.
