Russian Union of Museums proposed help to the burned Brazil National Museum

Russian Museums´ Union proposed professional help to colleagues from Brazil National Museum that has been largely destroyed by fire last Sunday. Russian Museums´ Union President and the Director of the Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky wrote a letter to Brazil's Ambassador to Russia Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado, quoted by TASS.

In the letter to Brazilian colleagues Russian Union of Museums expressed deep condolences. Devastating fire has eliminated millions of priceless pieces, such as archeological finds, Egyptian mummies and objects connected with various periods of Brazilian history. 

Mikhail Piotrovsky has proposed Brazilians professional help of Russian museum workers.

The fire took place after working hours and fortunately didn't lead to any human casualties. The  Brazilian president Michel Temer concluded that devastating museum fire has burned down “200 years of work, research and knowledge have been lost.”
