Commander Suvorov is remembered in Switzerland

219 years of Suvorov's March across the Alps was celebrated in Andermatt, Switzerland, TASS. Russian Ambassador in Switzerland Sergey Garmonin, Andermatt locals and Russian compatriots residing in Europe have gathered at the celebration. 

Laying flowers at the Suvorov swordsmen monument marked the tragic moment of their death in 1799 during historical battle with the French. The monument is thought to be one of the main attractions of the town, and tourists always come there to make pictures.  Military marches and hymns were played by Moscow Military Music College cadets.  

Local historians and inhabitants believe that Suvorov army liberated the country from The Grande Armée commanded by Napoleon.
