Northern journalists will discuss Antarctica future

International media circumpolar congress Arctic Mediaworld will take place in Slekhard at the beginning of winter, arcticmediaworld.com reports. It is dedicated to the 88th anniversary of formation of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. 

It is planned that more than 200 representatives of the media community will participate in the event, including professionals based in circumpolar territories, including Denmark, Canada, Finland, Norway, the US, Sweden, Island and Russian regions situated close to Arctica.  

According to the organisers, the Congress aims to involve the media representatives in the Arctic development issues. Jornalists will also share experience, build relations and partnership in coverage of different topics of the Arctic agenda.

Arctic ecology, preservation of traditions of indigenous peoples and economic cooperation of the Arctic countries to be anmong major topics. 

Guests will visit nomadic camps of reindeer herders, Yamal LNG Plant, presentation of arctic mass media exhibition and many other things.  

An international professional skills contest for representatives of Russian and foreign media community to be key event of the Congress.
