Russian team secures leadership in medal standings at Buenos Aires Olympics

Russian athletes guaranteed their leadership in the medal standings at the Summer Youth Olympics, Gazeta.ru writes. The national team occupies the first position from the first day of the competition.

Two days before the end of the tournament the Russian team scored 52 medals. Almost half of them are gold. Russia's athletes won 25 highest awards. 15 times they became the Olympics vice-champions. They got into top-3 for 12 times.

Chinese team follows the Russian one. Japan is on the third position. Neither of them have any chance to catch up with Russians.

According to Russkiy Mir, the Youth Olympic Games started in Buenos Aires on October 8. The first day brought six awards to Russian athletes. They got five gold medals and one silver ones.
The tournament ends on October 18.
