Russia and Egypt will conduct a cross-year of humanitarian cooperation in 2020, TASS reports. The decision was made during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

According to the Russian leader, the peoples of both countries have always been very keen on the culture, historical heritage and spiritual traditions of each other.

The Egyptian President stresses that the agreement on the cross-cultural year is significant.

He hopes that this project will contain many different actions and events presenting the cultural, civilizational and creative affinity of the two fraternal countries and peoples.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the Presidents of Russia and Egypt met in Sochi. "Cooperation boosting between the countries" was on agenda. Heads of states discussed a wide range of issues such as cooperation in the military and technical sphere, the construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt and the resumption of direct flights between Russia and Egypt.

Several joint documents were signed within the talks.
