Compatriots in Italy invited to Russian spelling lesson

Russian Days in Merano Festival opened in Italy in early December and would carry on December 14 with a meeting of the Russian Gramotei (Educated person) Club. Teachers of the club will help compatriots to refresh the forgotten rules of pronunciation and spelling and teach the basics of Russian to Italians who love Russian history and culture, Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow reports on its website. 

According to the head of Gramotei Olga Zolotareva, the majority of compatriots who have been living in Italy for many years, read Russian books and watch movies in Russian or with Russian translation. However, the language environment has its effect and the number of errors in Russian writing and pronunciation inevitably increases – and compatriots come to Gramotei to fix it. 

Young mothers, who come to the club with a desire to transfer to their Italian-born children Russian language and culture, often become activists of Gramotei. 

Russkiy Mir reported that Russian Days in Merano opened at the beginning of December with Game is Art exposition of the traditional Russian toys. The guests of the exhibition had the chance to see the works of wonderful masters who in the technique of Bogorodsk and Semenov toys techniques.

The program also included piano concerts, performances and master classes. The festival will end on December 19 with the lecture of the rector of the Orthodox parish of St. Nicholas Church in Merano Hegumen Alexy, who will tell the story about the life and deeds of St. Nicholas.
