Russian figure skaters have become part of the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, RIA Novosti reports.
Among them are Natalia Bestemianova and Andrei Bukin. They performed in the 70s and 80s in ice dancing. The pair won the title of champions at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, Canada. They also won silver medals at the Olympics in 1984 in Sarajevo. Bestemianova and Bukinare four times winners of world championships and five times winners of European ones.
The famous coach Elena Tchaikovskaya has also been added to the Hall of Fame. She has been bringing up figure skaters for more than half a century. Ludmila Pakhomova and Alexander Gorshkov, Natalya Linichukand Gennady Karponosov, who won Olympic gold, are among her students.
The Czechoslovak Olympic champion of 1972 in single skating Ondrej Nepela and silver medalist of the 1966 Games in single skating from Germany Gabriele Seyfertalso entered the Hall of Fame.
Four-time world ice dancing champions Eva Romanova and Pavel Roman are included in the Hall of Legends.
