Masters from five countries came to City of Crafts Festival in Vologda

The City of Crafts International Festival of Folk Crafts starts in Vologda on Friday, June 14. For the sixth time, masters from dozens of Russian regions gather in the city. Artisans from Germany, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Armenia and Belarus will also arrive, Vologda-Online reports. 

Residents and guests of the city will be invited to a large-scale fair and numerous master classes for children and adults. Business program is scheduled. They will also hold a competition where the best potters, blacksmiths, jewelers, carpenters and many others will be awarded in eight nominations. The main prize of almost 1500 USD from the Head of the city will be handed over. 

The organizers received more than 300 applications for participation in the competition, and more than 500 applications to participate in the fair. The city administration noted that the competition works are of a very high level. The public will be able to see them at the exhibition, organized in the local museum-reserve. 

Round tables, lectures and seminars will be held for the participants. Meetings of workshop foremen, where they will be able to discuss topical issues and share experiences and new ideas, will be held. 

The creative program of the festival will be marked by the Year of Theater. 

A special event of 2019 will be a project aimed at integrating activities of different regions related to the preservation and popularization of the traditions of national culture. Sarafan festival of costume and folk crafts from Veliky Novgorod will be part of the holiday. Novgorodians will show collections of replicas of the traditional national costumes, the Krestetskaya Strochka factory, and modern domestic designers.
