More than 100 000 compatriots moved to Russia during 2018, RIA Novosti reports. They took advantage of the state program to assist the voluntary resettlement of compatriots.
According to Vladimir Kolokoltsev, who heads the Ministry of Internal Affairs, last year’s figures are 19% higher than planned.
Head of the department noted that the geography of the program is expanding every year. Today it operates in the territory of 75 regions of our country.
Most often, immigrants come to the Central, Siberian, Volga and Ural Federal Districts. In 2019, the popularity of Russian Far Eastern regions increased.
In the first four months of this year, about 2000 people arrived in the Far East, which is 40% more than in 2018.
In addition, applications for obtaining Russian citizenship from residents of Donbass and Ukrainian citizens are being accepted and reviewed today.
