02.08.2019

Russian Lipovans students from Romanian counties of Tulcea, Constanta, Braila, Iasi, Suceava and Bucharest, as well as their teachers and Russian language teachers, gathered in the Romanian city of Timisoara at the Russian Poetry festival in late July. They celebrated the anniversaries of Russian poets and writers Alexander Pushkin, Anna Akhmatova, Nikolai Klyuev and Zinaida Gippius.

The Russian Lipovans community of Romania organized the 12th Children's School Competition called Festival of Russian Poetry in partnership with the Ministry of National Education of Romania through the Timis County School Inspectorate, with support from the Russkiy Mir Foundation and Timisoara Western University.

The national tour of the festival took place from July 27 to 31 at Western University, where the students performed verses by Alexander Pushkin, Anna Akhmatova, Nikolai Klyuev and Zinaida Gippius. Together with their teachers, they staged the works of Russian writers and demonstrated their acting skills.

Within the framework of the festival, the community and the representatives of the city hall opened a bronze bust of professor Ivan Evseev, who was the doctor of philological sciences, linguist, publicist, translator, ethnologist and anthropologist, member of the Romanian Writers Union and honorary member of the Russian Lipovans community of Romania. In 2000, he was awarded the Opera Omnia prize by the Romanian Academy for outstanding scientific achievements, in 2002 - the national Order For Faithful Service in cavalier decree for his scientific work.
