The official account of the Russian capital appeared on WeChat and Weibo, popular Chinese social networks, the website of the Moscow Mayor reports. It was launched by the Moscow Committee on Tourism in order to provide Chinese residents with information about Moscow in a convenient way. The authors of the first publication told the social networks users about the celebrations of Moscow City Day.

The capital of Russia became the first Russian city to have an account on the WeChat network. The information about Moscow is also available on the Weibo microblogging service.

The account will publish information useful to Chinese tourists, especially those who plan independent trips without tourist groups. They will be able to find tips on many topics - from choosing hotels to ranking of museums and restaurants. Information on the iconic and interesting places of Moscow will help guests to better navigate in the urban space. Separate sections will be devoted to the history and culture of the ancient city, the modern life of the metropolis and relevant urban news.

In 2018, the number of Chinese people who visited Moscow increased by more than twenty percent and exceeded 800 thousand people. As Russkiy Mir reported, in the first six months of this year, foreign citizens made 10.7 million trips to Russia.
