Oxford hosts conference for Russian language students

A conference for high school students who study Russian as a second langua age was held at Oxford High School. Over 150 students from fifteen leading schools in the UK took part in it. During the conference, schoolchildren, teachers and scientists discussed historical, political and scientific issues related to Russia and the Russian language, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The conference was attended by delegates from legendary educational institutions of Great Britain with a huge history, such as the James Allen School for Girls, Hampton School, St. Paul's School for Girls, Bristol Gymnasium and others.

One of the main topics of the conference was the preparation for final exams in the Russian language. Participants discussed tasks and areas of preparation, as well as material for school and independent studies.

The speech of the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Anton Chesnokov was dedicated to the benefits that knowledge of the Russian language could give. He dwelt in detail on the terms of entering the leading universities in Russia and getting budget funding for the education. Chesnokov said that knowledge of the Russian language increased the possibility of employment in Russian and international companies and organizations.

Famous British scholars made presentations on various periods in the history of Russia and Russian literature. Within the framework of the conference, a quiz was held, with prizes in which were souvenirs with symbols of the World Cup held in Russia.
