Number of foreign tourists in Russia increased by 20% in 2019

More than five million tourists from abroad visited Russia last year, RIA Novosti reports. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, this figure is 20% higher than last year.

The Chinese are the most frequent tourists in Russia. The number of Chinese travelers reached one and a half million. Half of them visited Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Russia is becoming increasingly popular among travelers from Germany, South Korea, Israel, Italy, Great Britain, France, and Japan. The number of American tourists also grew by 6% in comparison with the previous year - about 240 US citizens visited Russia in 2019.

Last autumn, foreign tourists most often chose the capital for their travels in Russia. St.Petersburg was second most popupar choice, Kaliningrad closed the top three.
