Bulgaria chooses winners of Living Classics contest

Three representatives of Bulgaria will take part in the finals of the international Living Classics reader's competition, which will be held at the Artek Children's Center. The winners were identified in three categories - “Russian as a Foreign Language”, “Russian as a Native Language” and “Bilinguals,” the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

12 students from 10 to 16 years old from Bulgarian educational institutions took part in the national stage. They chose classical Russian prose and works by contemporary Russian authors for their performances . Excerpts from the works of Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Bulgakov, Alexander Green and other Russian writers were read by the participants.

The jury included employees of Russian schools and educational centers working in Bulgaria, the head of the Russian Chamber Theater in Sofia Yulia Dikhanova, representatives of organizations of Russian compatriots.

The participants of the Bulgarian stage were presented with books, souvenirs, sweets and diplomas, the three winners were awarded with a trip to the Artek camp, where they will be able to combine educational programs with fun.
