Children from Russian-speaking families and their Irish peers, studying Russian as a foreign language, took part in the stage of the international Living Classics Reader's Contest, which was held in Navan (Ireland). The competition was organized by the local Russian Language and Culture Center Matryoshka, the website of the Nasha Gazeta newspaper reports.

The difficult epidemiological situation did not affect the concert - some of the participants participated offline, and some preferred to send videos with the performance of their favorite works by Russian classics. Katerina’s monologue from The Storm by Alexander Ostrovsky, the work of Lydia Charskaya and other Russian authors of the 19th and 20th centuries were recited during the contest.

A special nomination was created for Irish children studying Russian at the Matryoshka Center. The winner was Esther Molnar, who, according to the jury, was able not only to brilliantly learn the text, but also to get the gist of the Russian prose.
