The authorities of half of the Russian regions have introduced a regime of self-isolation, according to RIA Novosti. Restrictive measures are aimed at combating the spread of the coronavirus infection.
The day before, the region-wide self-isolation was declared in the capital and the Moscow region. Now the self-isolation regime operates in the Vologda, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Lipetsk regions, in the Komi Republic, St. Petersburg and other regions.
People are allowed to leave their home to visit to the nearest pharmacy, grocery store, take out the garbage, as well as to get emergency medical care. Those who violate the self-isolation regime will be punished. In addition, it is prescribed to maintain social distancing and carefully observe the rules of hygiene.
The head of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin believes that the regions of the country should pay attention to the measures that the Moscow authorities took to stop the spread of the coronavirus. According to the prime minister, it is worth exploring the possibility of introducing such measures in the regions.
Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted that the development of the situation abroad causes great concern for the life and health of people. Sobyanin recalled that all over the world the authorities are doing everything possible to slow down the growth in the number of cases. They are also trying to ensure that the number of serious patients increases gradually, so that the health system copes with it. The restrictions on social contacts, movement of people, self-isolation and other measures are meant to serve this task, the capital’s mayor noted.
