The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) is going to create a Coronavirus Aid Center in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports. It will be organized at St. Alexius Hospital. The Moscow Patriarchate press office said that the hospital is equipped with the most modern medical equipment. The hospital is ready to accept not only residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, but also people from other regions who have suffered from the spread of the coronavirus infection.

The ROC plans to create a diagnostic room for coronavirus testing and purchase additional drugs and devices for mechanical ventilation.

The Church is also preparing to organize a federal headquarters for helping vulnerable people. A round-the-clock call center will provide support to those needing assistance with groceries or any other kind of help.

Elderly and severely ill people, single mothers, homeless people and all those who find themselves in a difficult life situation will be able to get help. The ROC is also organizing “Mercy” hotline, where people will receive emergency counseling and psychological assistance.
